One of our team’s core values is to make product complexity disappear.
That’s why when we approached the initial narrative for this project, there was big emphasis on removing unnecessary technical language and dev-speak.
This allows for a degree of focus when it comes to the content of the story, and also sets the foundation for the visuals to follow — free of clutter, and clear in meaning.
We also opted for less illustration overall, but instead went for the highest possible quality in the visual assets that made the final cut.
The approach worked — our video for Digital Ocean currently has an 87% completion rate.
Build on brand.
From a branding perspective, our idea behind high-quality illustration was that there would be a suite of visual assets that Digital Ocean could use in addition to the finished video.
Every single frame in the animation had to be designed in such a way that it could standalone as an individual art-piece across Digital Ocean’s website, email campaigns and wider marketing channels.
