What we made
- 10 ad formats brought to life
- 6 real-world listening scenarios
- 3-day live-action shoot across Melbourne
- 7 markets in the localised rollout
We teamed up with Spotify to launch "Format Explorer" an interactive video experience built to shift how advertisers see Spotify. Viewers pick an ad format and get dropped, point of view, into the moment it reaches a listener. From an audio platform to a full-funnel, multi-format UX for audio, video and display.
Spotify Advertising needed a flexible educational tool for two audiences at once: Enterprise advertisers guided by the sales team, and Emerging & Scaled clients arriving through self-serve.
The perception problem was clear: most advertisers use Spotify Premium and don’t understand how or when ads appear in the free experience. Format Explorer was commissioned to show exactly what these ads look like throughout a typical day for a Spotify Free user.
Let the advertiser choose the format. Then drop them inside the very moment it reaches a listener. Pick a format → POV transition → Real-world scene → Key benefits of the ad format (in context)
The film opens on a sleek digital interface. The viewer selects an ad format, triggering a seamless point-of-view transition into an everyday environment where that format naturally appears. Chaptered and embeddable, it lets a seller jump a prospect straight to the format that matters.

From a three-day shoot to a global sales tool. The primary asset wasn’t a single film. It was a live-action shoot, a designed interactive layer, and a multi-market rollout. Here’s how it came together, and where it went.
The live action was only half the deliverable. Vidico designed and animated the Ad Format Explorer, which is the main interface that wraps the film and turns it into a tool a seller can actually drive.
